Sony PlayStation 3-PS3

The Third home video game console introduced from Sony Computer Entertainment was termed as the PlayStation 3 abbreviated as PS3. Under the seventh generation video game systems, PS2 competes with the Nintendo's Wii and Xbox 360 from Microsoft. One of the greatest features of the latest PlayStation from Sony is that it has a unified online gaming service known as the PlayStation Network.


Some of the incredible features include the multimedia capabilities, using high-definition optical disc format, connectivity with PlayStation Portable and also the Blu-ray Disc which serves to be the primary mode of storage. PS3 is also recognized to be the first Blu-ray 2.0 compliant introduced in the market.


The launch of PlayStation 3 was in the year 2006 on November in Japan, 2007, March 23rd in Oceania and Europe and in 2006, November 17th in North America. The Media also report that within 24 hours of the launch, 81,639 PlayStation 3 were sold off. Within the first two days of sale, around 600,000 systems were sold out. Two different models were available which included the basic model along with hard disk drive of 20GB and also the premium model having HDD of 60 GB. Apart from this there were other additional features making up the entire play system.


The CPU has been recognized to be of 3.2GHz Cell Broadband Engine along with 1PPE and 7SPEs. The system storage has been considered to be of 2.5" SATA hard drive with variations. The PlayStation was designed by Teiyu Goto and he has included some great features in its looks as well as the interiors. It has a Blu-ray Disc with a speed of 2x for games along with CDs and DVDs. Newer versions of PS3 are being introduced like 80GB model and the 40 GB model. There are lots more to be coming and releasing soon for those who are into the real gaming spirit along with PS3.
