The free PlayStation Move

Despite new technology, the PlayStation Move is already available for free from various websites and stores, either as a stand-alone unit or bundled with the console and games. We take a look at the different packages on offer as well as a look at the device history.

Sony Playstation move is a motion-sensing game controller system for use with PlayStation 3 (PS3) game console. Of course, take inspiration from Nintendo's Wii Remote, is PS move a free handheld controller wire. Controller has internal motion sensors and interacts with the Playstation Eye camera that tracks controllers position in the room.

Move system will also complete with Microsoft's forthcoming Kinect (formally project Natal) wireless control system.

Data controller is black (to match the PS3 console) and slightly longer than the Wii Remote. It also has a white ball atop which kind of looks like a golf ball.

The PlayStation Move system is divided into three separate elements. In addition to the main motion controller a further PlayStation Move becomes navigation controller available, as well as an optional charging station. In addition to the individual items, there will be multiple packages that bundle PS3 console together with Move controllers and compatible games.

History

PlayStation comes from the EyeToy, which was an early form of user interaction device developed for PS2, experimented with tracking or controllers that use different colored balls. Motion controller made his public debut on Sony's press conference during the 2009 E3 Technology Show in June 2009 where a live demonstration using prototype controllers were supplied.

During the Tokyo Game Show in September 2009 Sony showed a demonstration using a SixAxis controller in conjunction with the navigation controller, along with the game Biohazard 5: alternative Edition. Although well-received, a standard controller use a supplied felt to be a bit difficult and as a result, Sony began to work on navigation controller.

Game Developers Conference in March 2010 was used to show the final design or both motion controller and navigation controller (although it was called the PS move sub controller at the time). Final name of PlayStation Move was also announced at this Conference, to replace the original name for the PlayStation arc that reportedly was dropped by Sony at the last minute due to potential trademark issues from Microsoft.

PlayStation Move games development

In addition to Sony's in-house game development company, Sony Computer Entertainment worldwide, has so far 36 third-party Web development companies confirmed they want to develop games for use with the PlayStation Move system. These companies are 505 games, Activision, AQ interactive, Arc System Works, Atlus, BigBen Interactive, Capcom, CCP, asking about entertainment, Cyber front Corporation, Disney, EA, from Software, game Republic, Gust, Hudson soft, Irem, Koei, Konami, Majesco Entertainment, marvelous entertainment, Namco Bandai, Ongakukan, Oxygen games, Paon, Q Entertainment, Q-games, Sega, Sony online entertainment, Spike, Square Enix, Rockstar Games, THQ, Ubisoft, Warner Bros. and Zoo Entertainment.
