Use Your Playstation 2 Controllers On Your Playstation 3 With the PS2 Controller Adpater

Do you own a PlayStation 3? I Do. And I absolutely love this game machine. In fact, I love it so much that I put my good old trusty PlayStation 2 system up for sale and sold it. Mind you, I'm keeping all of my favorite games, because they can be played on the PS3 as well. Especially the two player games that I play often with friends. Thankfully I had several PS2 controllers (4 to be exact) and decided to only sell two of them with my PlayStation 2 console. I figured I could use my PS2 controllers on my PlayStation 3, and not have to spend another $50.00 on an extra controller.

Now, I did of course know that the PlayStation 3 controllers were not the same as the PlayStation 2. While they do have their SIXAXIS wireless controllers, they also have SIXAXIS wired PlayStation 3 controllers as well. However, these use a USB port in order to be able to plug into the controller ports on the PlayStation 3. This did present a problem, because the PlayStation 2 controllers do not have a USB plug, but a unique plug that's specific to the PS2 Console.

However, having reviewed and written about video games and video game accessories for many years now, and watched as innovative companies designed and developed what are called controller adapters [http://www.modchipnow.com/playstation-3-c-39.html] for essentially every single video game console on the market, I was certain that it was only a matter of time before a PlayStation 2 to PlayStation 3 controller adapter would be released. And boy was I right. Not even 3 months after the release of the PlayStation 3, the PS2 to PS3 Controller adapter started showing up on video game web sites.

The PlayStation 2 to PlayStation 3 controller adapter is an adapter for PlayStation 2 controllers. About 3 to 6 feet long, depending on which model you buy. The adapter allows you to plug in a PlayStation 2 controller to one and, and then plug the other end, which is a USB plug, into the PlayStation 3. Your PlayStation 2 controller will work just like any wired PlayStation 3 controller, minus the SIXAXIS Support of course, and the HOME button that's on all of the PS3 controllers.

All of the buttons are of course there, so you'll be able to play every single PlayStation 3 game just as you would when using a PlayStation 3 controller. Unfortunately, though the PS2 controllers have the rumble function / dual shock built in, Sony decided to remove this from the PlayStation 3 controllers (and I suspect it had a lot to do with the lawsuit brought against them by the developers of this technology). What this means is that regardless of the DUAL SHOCK functions built into your PlayStation 2 controller, unless you're playing PlayStation 2 games.

Not only does the PS2 to PS3 controller adapter save you money, and make use of your now unused PlayStation 2 controllers, you'll also be able to play your PS2 games just the same as you would on your PlayStation 2 console, with all of the rumble and force feedback that would be lacking if you were playing your PlayStation 2 games with a PlayStation 3 controller.

The controller adapter is a quick and easy way to use your PlayStation 2 controllers on your PlayStation 3. And above all, it's extremely cheap. priced at under $10.00, it's certainly much cheaper than going out and buying another PlayStation 3 controller. In fact, you could buy up to 4 adapters, and make use of all of the PlayStation 3 controller ports, and use PS2 controllers in all of them. An excellend, and low cost way to enjoy those multi player games, without having to let your PlayStation 2 controllers collect dust.

PS2 Swap Magic - Play PS2 Import And Backup Games With The Swap Magic For PS2

Playing import games on your PlayStation 2 or new Slim PSTwo console was virtually impossible, considering that it required you to install a mod chip into your PS2 machine, something that not everyone is able to do, or is willing to do. A PS2 Mod Chip requires you to solder small wires to some pretty small solder points right on the main board (motherboard) of your PS2 Console. Playing import games was really for the hard core gamer, and the gamers that would be willing to do some internal surgery to their ps2 consoles.

The PS2 Swap Magic changed all of that. With the PS2 Swap Magic there is absolutely no need to solder anything or install any type of chip into your PS2 console. In fact, unlike mod chips for the PlayStation 2, with the PS2 Swap Magic you'll be ready to play your import game in just seconds. By using the PS2 Swap Magic and a PS2 Cover, you'll instantly be able to play your import and backup PlayStation 2 games without any hassles or fuss.

The PS2 Swap Magic Disc acts as a loader for all of your import and personal backup games. You'll first load up the PS2 Swap Magic disc, and when greeted with the main menu, you will select LOAD PROGRAM and press your X button. At which time, you have to remove and take out the PS2 Swap Magic disc and insert the game disc you wish to load. Unlike a mod chip, where once installed, you just put in the game disc you want to play, the latest import or backup game and power up your PS2 console to start playing. You will have to do what's called a single swap with the PS2 Swap Magic discs. What this means is that you'll simply put in the PS2 Swap Magic Disc first, before your game, and then swap it out after the Swap magic for PS2 has loaded.

While heavy mod chip users consider this annoying, for people like myself, who would prefer not to solder and perform electronics surgery, it's a very small price to pay for being able to play those really cool Japanese and European games. With the newest versions, there are also some added benefits over mod chips, such as loading homebrew applications and software directly from your ps2 memory card. Something that mod chips simply do not allow you to do, unless you buy the high end mod chips like the DMS4, etc... which require even more wires to be soldered.

The features of the PS2 Swap Magic speak for themselves, and clearly indicate that the need for a ps2 mod chip is eliminated completely and there is absolutely no modification required to your ps2 console in order to play your import and backup games with ease.

PS2 Swap Magic - Feature List:

  • There is no warranty to void

  • Works with original import games

  • No modchip for the games to detect

  • No modification to the internal system

  • No extra stress on the laser lens

  • No soldering required - plug and play

  • Swap Magic 3 CD Version For PS2 CD-R backups Included

  • Swap Magic DVD Version For PS2 DVD-R backups Included

  • Multi-Language menu: English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korea

  • Compatable with DVDRips (632mb+ CD-R backups) via TOC Refresh feature*

  • Includes built-in PAL/NTSC region selector

  • Games start with the single swap method detailed below
  • What is important to note is that when you buy the PS2 Swap Magic, you'll actually get 2 individual discs. Don't worry, and don't be confused. One is clearly marked as a CD-Rom disc, which the other Swap Magic disc is the DVD Disc. You'll need both discs, depending on what type of game you are trying to load. The PS2 Swap Magic CD Version is needed for CD based games (yes, some PS2 games - even your personal backup games you may have made) actually fit on a CD-Rom disc, in which case, you will need to use the PS2 Swap Magic CD Disc to load the game. Most games, especially newer ones however require the use of the PS2 Swap Magic DVD Disc. It's really not very hard at all to determine which type of game disc you have, simply because you can look at the disc itself and it should have either the CD-Rom or the DVD logo on the game disc, or blank disc media on which you saved your backup copy.

The PS2 Swap Magic offers gamers an opportunity to play their import and backup games, without the need to install a Playstation 2 mod chip. This makes import games and import gaming much more accessable to people who do not have the technical know-how to install a mod chips in their PS2. The PS2 Swap Magic allows you to do everything a mod chip does, with just one swap. Find out more at http://www.ps2cover.com/slidecardsm3.shtml

PlayStation 2 Video Games - A Closer Look

PlayStation 2 video games were the bees-knees back before the arrival of the PlayStation 3 and the competitive Xbox 360. Now they're a much underrated relic of gaming history, and are put aside for the much more expensive PS3 and Xbox360 games. But who needs the extra graphics? Who needs the modern gaming? Anyone who knew the joy of PlayStation 2 in its day will easily play PS2 games and have just as much fun as on any newer console. So let us look at some of the best PS2 games, so that we can buy them at ridiculously cheap prices and smite the modern game developers.

The Final Fantasy games are eternal, evergreen, cult following games, and anyone who became hooked on them at their birth, or even later on the newer consoles, will no doubt still enjoy them just as much on a PlayStation 2. The last proper installment on PS2 was Final Fantasy XII. It was a huge advancement in graphics and playability, with nearly endless amounts of game-play time, and can be picked up for a meager price compared to the game time offered.

If you're a soccer fan, you will know that the game rules do not change all that often. And, not surprisingly, neither do the console versions of the game. The graphics can only go so far when rendering a field from above, and the controls are generally kept as they are. So, although new games are released every year, you would be better off simply sticking to a good old PlayStation 2 version. What's the difference?

But if these games don't grab your attention, look out for some of the other PS2 classics. There's Jak 3, for quirky, challenging and other worldly missions; Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, for a comprehensive experience of the Metal Gear experience; Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, that classic open world, sadistic game-play crammed with hundreds of missions in the unique and hilarious San Andreas environment; and, lastly, Burnout 3, for high-octane, unreal, speed-crazed fun that lasts all the way up until the caffeine in your system wears off.

To find PlayStation 2 video games you would be best off looking them up on Amazon, but, if you're eager to score a good deal, try bidding on Ebay, as there are tones of people looking to sell some of their old games and consoles. So, if you want a cheap, fun gaming experience, look no further than PlayStation 2 games.

BloodRayne Review for the Playstation 2 (PS2), XBox, and Nintendo Gamecube

BloodRayne is seductively different from other games. The character of this game, Rayne, has been dressed very provocatively and has a body that would turn heads, but that is not what makes this game special. Many games have women that wear revealing clothing. What gives this character and this game a more sexual feel is that she is part vampire. Vampires have often been portrayed in a sexual light due to the intimacy shared between the vampire and the victim during feeding. This game incorporates a sexually charged female character as the heroine and gives it a sort of horror movie feel with all of the creatures that Rayne has to fight. Any woman who can kick butt while wearing next to nothing makes a great video game character.

BoodRayne is about a sexy half-human half-vampire who is working to rid the world of supernatural activity caused by black magic. She was recruited by and takes orders from a secret agency. Throughout the game Agent Rayne makes contact with this agency to update them on her progress and to receive new orders. Since Agent Rayne is only a half-vampire she does not share all the same weaknesses that full vampires do, however she still must be careful around water and sunlight. This is especially tricky in the first part of the game that is set in the Louisiana swamps.

Agent Rayne is sent to the Louisiana swamps in the 1930's to kill Zombies and giant-spiders. Her goal is to rid the swamp of all the giant-spider's nests so that there will be no more reproduction of this abomination. This part of the game drags a little bit, but if you can just hang in there the action picks up in the next area that she is sent to.

Five years after the Louisiana mission is finished Agent Rayne receives new orders from the agency to take out the Nazis because of the work that they are doing with black magic. Her goal is to find the laboratory where these experiments are taking place and to put a stop to it. This area is a lot of fun to play because Agent Rayne runs into some really creepy monsters.

Agent Rayne gains many abilities as the game progresses which adds a lot of flavor to the gameplay. She can see enemies through walls and is guided by a red light to her targets. This helps with navigation through tricky areas that are easy to get lost in. Agent Rayne can also move super fast in order to dodge bullets that are coming at her. This move works great when there are a dozen enemies shooting at you all at once. Then there is the blood rage that increases while she is kicking butt. This bar will fill up so that you can use your supper attack that increases the amount of damage that she inflicts on the enemy.

Personally, my favorite part of the game is that Agent Rayne can feed off of any of her enemies; when she feeds her life increases and the life of the enemy decreases. Jumping on an enemy and feeding when there is a lot of gunfir works great because you can use the person as a shield from the bullets. While agent Rayne is feeding she makes very sexy moaning noises that let you know just how much she is enjoying it.

Agent Rayne comes equipped with knives and swords to kill the enemies; the attacks with these swords can be really grisly. She can slash her victim to death, decapitate them, or even impel them; all are equally bloody. The blood splatters all over the walls, all over the floors, basically everywhere and they remain there even after you leave the area which helps you to know whether you have already been to that area. Agent Rayne can also pick up stray guns. These are very easy to use since all you have to do is lock on and shoot. The guns come in handy when you are sorely outnumbered.

The graphics are decent; each one of the new areas that she goes in are equally interesting and look very realistic. The camera on the other hand can get stuck sometimes and usually the only way to fix it is to reset the game. The player can interact with almost anything in the game, for instance a desk can be smashed, items knocked over, and curtains can be torn which makes a very realistic tearing sound.

This game is quite long, but on the up-side the game is relatively easy so flying through it should be a breeze. One thing to keep in mind is that it starts out rather slow and boring, but the farther into the game you get the more interesting it becomes. I would recommend giving it a try if you have the time to devote to playing it.

Ten Must Own Games for Playstation 2

Ten Must Own Games for Playstation 2

Hundreds of games were released for PlayStation 2 during the console's lifetime. There are so many, that it can be hard to choose which you want to buy for your collection. Below is a list of the ten must own games for the PS2 and why they should be in your collection.

    10. Final Fantasy X - The first Final Fantasy game on PlayStation 2 successfully evolves the best selling RPG franchise. FFX has a very deep battle system with even more complex stat upgrades. Your characters can literally take on hundreds of combinations of skills and abilities.

    9. Guitar Hero - Live your rock and roll dreams in Guitar Hero. Use a real guitar controller to play all your favorite rock ballads and guitar solos. Hours of songs to play, multiple difficulty levels for even master players, and a song list with tons of classics. This game is great for casual players because it is so easy to pick up, but will keep you coming back with the steady increase in difficulty.

    8. Katamari Damacy - A very strange premise, but very fun game. Roll a ball around a level. Smaller objects get stuck to the ball making it bigger, then you can roll over bigger objects. You have to grow your ball to a certain size to clear every level. Tons of replayability, random and funny cut-scenes, and solid game play make this a very unique but great game for the PlayStation 2.

    7. Ico - The game didn't sell very well, but has great story, good puzzle design, and environments that make you forget you are playing a game sometimes. You play as a boy who is destined to be sacrificed to appease the Gods. He must make his way through the world and solve puzzles or face his grim fate.

    6. Kingdom Hearts - Square Enix combines the Final Fantasy and Disney characters into one role playing adventure. You play as Sora but fight along side Donald and Goofy and meet Ariel, Aladdin, and other great Disney characters along the way. Kingdom Hearts is great for RPG fans and fun for Disney fans too. You will love all the cameos from the Disney movies and cartoons.

    5. Metal Gear Solid 2 - The sequel to Metal Gear Solid for the original Playstation. Play as Solid Snake as tries to stop a resistance group from gaining control of a high-tech weapon. Unlike other action games, you have to use stealth and planning to get through the game. You can just kill everything. In-depth story and great cinematics help solidify its place in the top ten.

    4. Grand Theft Auto III - The smash hit that went on to create it's own genre. In GTA 3, you can do almost anything you want. Want to follow the story, go ahead. Just want to steal cars and get into police chases, you can do that too. It led to multiple sequels and countless copycat games and helped spark the massive success of the PlayStation 2 during its first year.

    3. Resident Evil 4 - Originally released as a Gamecube game, Resident Evil 4 for PlayStation 2 has all the same features plus more levels. Its an action packed, heart pounding horror game as Leon tries to save the President's daughter. With a 95% review score from gamerankings.com it is the best reviewed PS2 game of all time.

    2. Gran Turismo 3 - Hands down the best racing simulator. Gran Turismo 3 is a realistic racing game with real cars, real tracks, and real life attributes for all of them. Racing a VW Bug will feel different than racing a Corvette. Different acceleration, speed, and handling for each car and track. And I didn't even mention the impressive graphics yet. If you love cars, this is the best racing game you can get.

    1. God of War - Great graphics, epic story, nearly perfect controls. This is the best game on PlayStation 2 and one of the better games released the past generation. Play as Kratos as he makes his way through ancient Greece fighting mythological creatures and using his fallen foes powers to vanquish future enemies. A best seller, highly reviewed, and all around great game.

If any of these games aren't in your PlayStation 2 collection you should buy them. All ten games of these games are great gaming experiences that every gamer should experience.

PlayStation 2 Console (New Smaller Model)

PlayStation 2 Console (New Smaller Model)

The new smaller version of the PlayStation 2 gaming console (Abbreviated as PS2) matches the size of a hardcover book that makes it easier to carry around and play games anytime, anywhere. The console has an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming. The volume of the new smaller model of PS2 has been reduced by about 75% while its thickness has been trimmed down to 2.8 cm as compared to 7.8 cm in its previous model. The unit's weight has also been halved.

The overhauled internal design of the unit incorporates the power supply into the console itself, thus reducing its weight considerably. The unit is Sony's second video gaming console under the PlayStation series. It is a successor of PlayStation and the predecessor of the PlayStation 3. The console inherits the basic functions of the PlayStation. Due to its thinner profile, the console does not contain a 3.5" expansion bay and therefore does not support the internal hard disk drive.

The PS2 is part of the sixth generation era. The unit has a large collection of widely acclaimed games like Grand Theft Auto series, Metal Gear Solid 3, Gran Turismo 4, the Sly Cooper trilogy, Champions: Return to Arms, and Shadow of the Colossus. Horror games available on the console include Silent Hill, Forbidden Siren, Project Zero and Resident Evil. The console also features music games like Sing Star, Dance Revolution and the guitar controller-based Guitar Hero series.

The sheer enjoyment one gets from the PS2 makes it an essential purchase. The console's hardware can read both CDs and DVDs and is backward compatible with PlayStation games. The unit also supports PlayStation memory cards and controllers. There is also support for the internal PlayStation 2 HDD. The device is equipped with DVD-playback functionality, USB support and IEEE 1394 expansion ports.
