The PlayStation 3 has another trick up its sleeve - what is being described as user created content. That is, the PlayStation 3 promises to bring some gamers out of their passivity, and empower them to add new features to the coming console. This should appeal to PC Gamers, who are used to the joys of mudding, and creating new levels and environments for games. Sony hopes that they will transfer their talents and enthusiasm to the PlayStation 3. Microsoft typically takes a much less enthusiastic view of user-created content, and the Xbox has very limited capacity in that regard- at least in our many of our reviews.

The Xbox and the PlayStation 3 both have online services, but these are quite different in style. With the Xbox, everything is tied closely into the Microsoft empire through the medium of Xbox Live. Sony has taken a more hands-off approach, and it seems there will be the option for gamers to choose one of several online services. It will be possible to play tournaments online through the PlayStation 3.

Who will win this battle? In the short term, the PlayStation 3 will likely win the Christmas sales battle - provided Sony can ship enough units to keep up with demand. But that is simply because they are the new kid on the block. In the longer term, expect sales of the two consoles to be fairly similar - and impressively high in both cases, perhaps between 20 million and 30 million each over the next few years. We shall start shallow and work deeper, Appearance. Well what can I say other than WOW. This thing is huge, by far the biggest console to date. This is because it's crammed with things made from the far end of the periodic table by men in white coats. This monster can do anything it likes without and fuss, play games, run Linux, browse the web and cure natural diseases, before you can even begin to appreciate the glossy finish or the touch-screen buttons. The gloss finish is a nice touch, giving a modern feel about it. It will fit well with the home theater system and large HD television. The PlayStation 3 fits in wherever you put it, the kid's bedroom, the living room, kitchen, bathroom, shrine or even the dungeon. It has a sense of compatibility and complete control over everything it's near and has the face to make you not argue.

The touch buttons have a nice feel to them, means you don't shove anything out of the way by pressing a normal button too hard. There are a variety of faceplates too, Chrome on the 60Gb, 80Gb and presumably the upcoming 120Gb models, a matte silver finish on the 40Gb model and a darker finish on the 20Gb model. The release models of the PlayStation 3 feature more holes than the newer models for fans but also encompass multimedia card readers, PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility (whether it is Hardware or Software) and obviously the larger hard-drive. Looking into the face of the PlayStation 3 you will find a very tidy looking console, few ugly features like the slot-loading CD-ROM drive. When put in the correct place the PlayStation 3 is wireless so there are only 2 cables: Power and vision. This makes it look like a normal DVD player, until it's turned on.

XMB: This monster looks like Pamela Anderson wet with no clothes on. When turned on it looks as elegant, calm and collected as the Mafia brandishing machine guns. The background moves elegantly and is changeable and the icons move smoothly, these are also changeable. Everything inside the PlayStation 3's interface can pretty much be changed. The Infobar can be turned on and off, icons changed, background changed, fonts and other things can be customized till the cows come home. The Looks of the PlayStation 3 however do nothing to show the power within the machine.

Power: The power on this machine is just ferocious. Anything you can ask it to do it will with the lowest amount of fuss seen and not a noise can be heard unless your ears are as muscular as Arnold Schwarzenegger's arms. The specially developed Cell broadband engine can cope with absolutely anything a player can throw at it. That being said, the graphics card is made to match with its superb processing ability. The BD-ROM drive may only be a 2X speed drive but most of the games offer an install option so the games can load very quickly, eliminating many long load times. The hard-drive is a 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA notebook drive with the capacity depending on what you put in it or which SKU you purchase. The controller has enough power to last about 20 hours plus depending upon how many features are used and how aggressively it is used. It also links up to and idle PlayStation 3 in about 2-3 seconds wirelessly or instantly when charging via the cable. Graphics wise the PlayStation 3 is no slouch at all, HDMI up to 1080p NATIVELY, not up scaled. It also supports the same connection found on the PlayStation 2 although for whatever reason Sony limited this by default but an option in the settings quickly fixes that. There is also a program to emulate the PlayStation 1 built into every PlayStation 3 by standard. It is said that that a computer has to be 25 times more powerful than the system it wants to emulate and the PlayStation 3 is 35 times more powerful than Sony's own PlayStation 2. That's a small idea how powerful this console is. The processor packs 8 Synergy Processing Units, or SPU's, to process everything, 1 is reserved for the XMB OS, 6 are reserved for the games and the last one is reserved for a breakdown in one of the other chips.

Features: This has more features than a Swiss army knife, a fitted kitchen, 4 branches of Dixons and a wood burning stove. It is compatible with almost every video format used, probably every sound format, a lot of picture formats, DVD, Dual Layered DVD's, Flash cards, Memory Stick Pro Duo, MMC, Compact Flash cards, USB sticks, small planets we haven't heard of and technology made by men in white coats along with many other features such as the well known Linux compatibility, native 1080P output and motion control. As many features as this has, it does come at a bit of a price, £425 at release which by anybodies standards is pretty heft, a swift price cut sorted this out relatively quickly but for the amount of features you get built in, it's actually rather good value. With its built in Wi-Fi, DVD upscale, Blu-Ray drive, HDMI output, Gigabyte Ethernet port, wireless controller, frequent updates and unparalleled customer service the PlayStation 3 becomes relatively cheap.

Believe it or not, it was much cheaper than the Xbox 360 at the same time, The console cost £300, HD DVD drive was £90, wireless was £45, wireless controller came only with premium package, there was no built in HD DVD drive option available, it is as noisy as hell, breaks down more often than a nervous TV presenter, it's as subtle as a tank in a library and the backwards compatibility is about as useful as a cardboard cabbage. A big feature of the PlayStation 3 is the "Future proof" technology, being able to download the latest Blu-ray advancements, Operating system updates and other features means the PlayStation 3 could well be a wise investment even if games are not going to be played on it. Whilst not much of a feature, the almost silent fan will make mince meat of the conventional DVD player, Xbox 360, home theater system, built in DVD player, a child's chemistry set or even a vibrating chair.

Games: This is obviously a big part of a games console. A console without games is like swimming without water. Sadly the PlayStation 3 is on a bit of a square wheel at the moment. The games that come out are graphically parallel to the Xbox 360, despite being only first generation. However the games that are of any interest tend to be ports from the Xbox which is pretty bad. Things are slowly smoothing out though, sales are getting closer to that annoying white block Nintendo calls a console.

What amazes me is that Sony are rumored to have terrible software development kits and this makes it harder for the 3rd party developers to make games for them. THQ recently announced that some games for the PlayStation 3 will have better graphics than the Xbox 360, this carries about as much weight as saying the Xbox is made by Microsoft. It's obvious and inevitable as 3rd parties continue to improve their knowledge of the super console. Games which will cause sales surges are coming out in the near future including MGS4, GT5, Little Big Planet, Home (despite not being a game) and GTA4 (although this is not exclusive). I am expecting some killer new games to be out to take the wind out of even the mighty Wii. So the square wheel is starting to smooth out, with the year of the PlayStation 3 upon us then we may be seeing a new king to the console war, knocking the Wii off its long held platform with its rather annoying exercise games.

Conclusion: This large, stylish powerhouse is gaining momentum, despite having square wheels. In theory this is going to be a big year for the PlayStation 3, a spokesperson has officially announced there will be no price cuts in the near future, more downloadable content and a rather bold content from Sony saying that the year 2008 is the "key year" for the PlayStation 3 and that in this year we will see "everything that we've got" looks like Sony has some big things planned. BloodRayne Review for the Playstation 2 (PS2), XBox, and Nintendo Gamecube

BloodRayne is seductively different from other games. The character of this game, Rayne, has been dressed very provocatively and has a body that would turn heads, but that is not what makes this game special. Many games have women that wear revealing clothing. What gives this character and this game a more sexual feel is that she is part vampire. Vampires have often been portrayed in a sexual light due to the intimacy shared between the vampire and the victim during feeding. This game incorporates a sexually charged female character as the heroine and gives it a sort of horror movie feel with all of the creatures that Rayne has to fight. Any woman who can kick butt while wearing next to nothing makes a great video game character.

BoodRayne is about a sexy half-human half-vampire who is working to rid the world of supernatural activity caused by black magic. She was recruited by and takes orders from a secret agency. Throughout the game Agent Rayne makes contact with this agency to update them on her progress and to receive new orders. Since Agent Rayne is only a half-vampire she does not share all the same weaknesses that full vampires do, however she still must be careful around water and sunlight. This is especially tricky in the first part of the game that is set in the Louisiana swamps.

Agent Rayne is sent to the Louisiana swamps in the 1930's to kill Zombies and giant-spiders. Her goal is to rid the swamp of all the giant-spider's nests so that there will be no more reproduction of this abomination. This part of the game drags a little bit, but if you can just hang in there the action picks up in the next area that she is sent to.

Five years after the Louisiana mission is finished Agent Rayne receives new orders from the agency to take out the Nazis because of the work that they are doing with black magic. Her goal is to find the laboratory where these experiments are taking place and to put a stop to it. This area is a lot of fun to play because Agent Rayne runs into some really creepy monsters.

Agent Rayne gains many abilities as the game progresses which adds a lot of flavor to the gameplay. She can see enemies through walls and is guided by a red light to her targets. This helps with navigation through tricky areas that are easy to get lost in. Agent Rayne can also move super fast in order to dodge bullets that are coming at her. This move works great when there are a dozen enemies shooting at you all at once. Then there is the blood rage that increases while she is kicking butt. This bar will fill up so that you can use your supper attack that increases the amount of damage that she inflicts on the enemy.

Personally, my favorite part of the game is that Agent Rayne can feed off of any of her enemies; when she feeds her life increases and the life of the enemy decreases. Jumping on an enemy and feeding when there is a lot of gunfir works great because you can use the person as a shield from the bullets. While agent Rayne is feeding she makes very sexy moaning noises that let you know just how much she is enjoying it.

Agent Rayne comes equipped with knives and swords to kill the enemies; the attacks with these swords can be really grisly. She can slash her victim to death, decapitate them, or even impel them; all are equally bloody. The blood splatters all over the walls, all over the floors, basically everywhere and they remain there even after you leave the area which helps you to know whether you have already been to that area. Agent Rayne can also pick up stray guns. These are very easy to use since all you have to do is lock on and shoot. The guns come in handy when you are sorely outnumbered.

The graphics are decent; each one of the new areas that she goes in are equally interesting and look very realistic. The camera on the other hand can get stuck sometimes and usually the only way to fix it is to reset the game. The player can interact with almost anything in the game, for instance a desk can be smashed, items knocked over, and curtains can be torn which makes a very realistic tearing sound.

This game is quite long, but on the up-side the game is relatively easy so flying through it should be a breeze. One thing to keep in mind is that it starts out rather slow and boring, but the farther into the game you get the more interesting it becomes. I would recommend giving it a try if you have the time to devote to playing it.

PlayStation Move Review

It feels like years since gamers first caught word of Sony's PlayStation Move. Slowly over the months more and more information has been released, and now the PlayStation Move is upon us. I decided not to pick up the Move on launch day as I wanted to wait and see if anyone reported major issues with the peripheral. I had planned to wait for a potential price drop, but after a few days my patience was exhausted. I ended up spending around $200 on the Move starter bundle, a second controller, and EyePet for my daughter.

The starter bundle includes one standard Move controller, a PlayStation Eye camera, and Sports Champions. The controller fits very snugly in the hand. and the attached lanyard is made of a nice thick fabric with an adjustable locking mechanism. This son of a bitch won't fall off your arm without some serious effort and I don't foresee the lanyard ever breaking. I was also surprised at the quality of the included camera. Sports Champions includes 6 different games, so gamers will get hours of gameplay out of the starter pack alone.

After setting everything up I began to play, I was in awe of the PlayStation Move's responsiveness. Everything runs at an amazing 1:1 ratio, so kudos to Sony for following through on their promises. All of the games on Sports Champions support up to four players, and I've had tons of fun with my friends and family with just this one game. Disk golf, which i had never even heard of before playing Sports Champions, was a blast and I would love to try it out sometime in real life. It's tons of fun and includes multiple holes with obstacles such as water hazards, and trees, so players have to think about both the power and angle of their throw. Disk golf is an amazing example of the precision the Move controller provides.

Some of the games in Sports Champions have the option of using two controllers. This is another mind blowing experience. Gladiator duel is the best game on the disk. This is a 3rd person over the shoulder fighting game that has players holding a shield in the left hand and a sword/axe/hammer/club in the right hand. With two move controllers synced up the right hand orb turns pink and the left hand orb turns blue. This is pretty cool looking when playing in a dark room. Hacking and slashing with your arms in the dark is definitely a blast when getting tipsy with friends.

Sony fully delivered on the PlayStation Move's responsiveness and so far everything has worked flawlessly for me. If you haven't picked up the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation Move yet you definitely should. Not only is the Move starter bundle available at $99, but a bundle including the PlayStation 3 console, and the Move starter bundle is available for $399..

I find the PlayStation Move to be a must have addition to the PlayStation 3 console. If you were on the fence about motion controls or turned off by the Wii, don't fret. The Wii has been out for quite a few years now and Sony has kept a close eye on what works and what doesn't in motion controls. The Move is spot on, and along with some great titles for kids, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet 2, SOCOM 4, and support for previously released titles like Resident Evil 5 should have core gamers getting in on the PlayStation Move-ment.

You can create your own avatar and play online with other PlayStation 3 video game users. However, the online gaming, media, and commerce options are not as developed as the Xbox Live.

Playstation 3 Role Playing Games Review

I just want to open by saying that I have been sorely disappointed with the Playstation 3's selection of RPG games upon its release. It appears that their target audience prefers racing games and first person shooters, as those genres sum up the majority of the games that were available for the Playstation 3 at the time of this writing. I think that it is an understatement to say that Playstation 3 owners are thirsty for more high-definition RPG games. Give us more RPG for PS3!

That being said, I will be reviewing the two RPG games available at Playstation 3 release for you in this edition:

Untold Legends : Dark Kingdom

This was my first dive into the world of Playstation 3. My naivety of HD cables led me to, originally, play the game in 480i. You can imagine that I was not very impressed with the graphics. Once I figured out that the Display Settings in the Playstation 3's Settings Menu had to be set, I finally played the game in all its 1080i glory. It was a truly beautiful experience.

My only complaint is:
Too many cave levels. The levels in the outside world are spectacular. Particularly stunning are the levels on the roof top of the tower, the mosaic tiles and the crystalline golem are worth spending ten hours of game play to see.

Tip: Level one specific special-power completely, and then move on to the next. At full power-up, the special-powers are devastating. The mage's telekinesis special-power is my personal favorite.

Rating: 8/10

Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Overall, the Playstation 3 version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance was an amazingly satisfying introduction to the power of the Playstation 3. It also spawns an excited anticipation for more of the eye-popping RPG's to come.

The only two complaints I have are:
Sometimes, the game lags due to the intense amount of high-definition graphics on the screen. As to why, I can only guess that either the programming doesn't take proper advantage of the hardware, or that the graphics are just too intense for the system. You will notice this if you play the Playstation 2 version, then switch to playing the Playstation 3 version as I did. Once you complete the game, you cannot restart the game with your powered up characters on a more difficult level, you have to start the character leveling with a set of fresh, un-leveled characters.

Tip: Stick to one outfit. You do not keep the powers of a previously leveled outfit when you switch to a different outfit. It costs a lot of money to upgrade the outfits.

These two complaints hardly outweigh the satisfaction of playing the game. It has a terrific storyline and amazing graphical quality.

As I stated earlier, the Playstation 3 could certainly improve on their selection of RPG games. I also have to say that these two games introduce the thirsty RPG fan to the beauty and high-definition promise of some amazing things to come. These two titles will certainly quench their thirst for the time being.

We shall start shallow and work deeper, Appearance. Well what can I say other than WOW. This thing is huge, by far the biggest console to date. This is because it's crammed with things made from the far end of the periodic table by men in white coats. This monster can do anything it likes without and fuss, play games, run Linux, browse the web and cure natural diseases, before you can even begin to appreciate the glossy finish or the touch-screen buttons. The gloss finish is a nice touch, giving a modern feel about it. It will fit well with the home theater system and large HD television. The PlayStation 3 fits in wherever you put it, the kid's bedroom, the living room, kitchen, bathroom, shrine or even the dungeon. It has a sense of compatibility and complete control over everything it's near and has the face to make you not argue.

The touch buttons have a nice feel to them, means you don't shove anything out of the way by pressing a normal button too hard. There are a variety of faceplates too, Chrome on the 60Gb, 80Gb and presumably the upcoming 120Gb models, a matte silver finish on the 40Gb model and a darker finish on the 20Gb model. The release models of the PlayStation 3 feature more holes than the newer models for fans but also encompass multimedia card readers, PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility (whether it is Hardware or Software) and obviously the larger hard-drive. Looking into the face of the PlayStation 3 you will find a very tidy looking console, few ugly features like the slot-loading CD-ROM drive. XMB: This monster looks like Pamela Anderson wet with no clothes on. When turned on it looks as elegant, calm and collected as the Mafia brandishing machine guns. The background moves elegantly and is changeable and the icons move smoothly, these are also changeable. Everything inside the PlayStation 3's interface can pretty much be changed. The Infobar can be turned on and off, icons changed, background changed, fonts and other things can be customized till the cows come home. The Looks of the PlayStation 3 however do nothing to show the power within the machine.

Power: The power on this machine is just ferocious. Anything you can ask it to do it will with the lowest amount of fuss seen and not a noise can be heard unless your ears are as muscular as Arnold Schwarzenegger's arms. The specially developed Cell broadband engine can cope with absolutely anything a player can throw at it. That being said, the graphics card is made to match with its superb processing ability. The BD-ROM drive may only be a 2X speed drive but most of the games offer an install option so the games can load very quickly, eliminating many long load times. The hard-drive is a 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA notebook drive with the capacity depending on what you put in it or which SKU you purchase. The controller has enough power to last about 20 hours plus depending upon how many features are used and how aggressively it is used. It also links up to and idle PlayStation 3 in about 2-3 seconds wirelessly or instantly when charging via the cable. Graphics wise the PlayStation 3 is no slouch at all, HDMI up to 1080p NATIVELY, not up scaled. It also supports the same connection found on the PlayStation 2 although for whatever reason Sony limited this by default but an option in the settings quickly fixes that. There is also a program to emulate the PlayStation 1 built into every PlayStation 3 by standard. It is said that that a computer has to be 25 times more powerful than the system it wants to emulate and the PlayStation 3 is 35 times more powerful than Sony's own PlayStation 2. That's a small idea how powerful this console is. The processor packs 8 Synergy Processing Units, or SPU's, to process everything, 1 is reserved for the XMB OS, 6 are reserved for the games and the last one is reserved for a breakdown in one of the other chips.

Features: This has more features than a Swiss army knife, a fitted kitchen, 4 branches of Dixons and a wood burning stove. It is compatible with almost every video format used, probably every sound format, a lot of picture formats, DVD, Dual Layered DVD's, Flash cards, Memory Stick Pro Duo, MMC, Compact Flash cards, USB sticks, small planets we haven't heard of and technology made by men in white coats along with many other features such as the well known Linux compatibility, native 1080P output and motion control. As many features as this has, it does come at a bit of a price, £425 at release which by anybodies standards is pretty heft, a swift price cut sorted this out relatively quickly but for the amount of features you get built in, it's actually rather good value. With its built in Wi-Fi, DVD upscale, Blu-Ray drive, HDMI output, Gigabyte Ethernet port, wireless controller, frequent updates and unparalleled customer service the PlayStation 3 becomes relatively cheap.

Believe it or not, it was much cheaper than the Xbox 360 at the same time, The console cost £300, HD DVD drive was £90, wireless was £45, wireless controller came only with premium package, there was no built in HD DVD drive option available, it is as noisy as hell, breaks down more often than a nervous TV presenter, it's as subtle as a tank in a library and the backwards compatibility is about as useful as a cardboard cabbage. A big feature of the PlayStation 3 is the "Future proof" technology, being able to download the latest Blu-ray advancements, Operating system updates and other features means the PlayStation 3 could well be a wise investment even if games are not going to be played on it. Whilst not much of a feature, the almost silent fan will make mince meat of the conventional DVD player, Xbox 360, home theater system, built in DVD player, a child's chemistry set or even a vibrating chair.

Games: This is obviously a big part of a games console. A console without games is like swimming without water. Sadly the PlayStation 3 is on a bit of a square wheel at the moment. The games that come out are graphically parallel to the Xbox 360, despite being only first generation. However the games that are of any interest tend to be ports from the Xbox which is pretty bad. Things are slowly smoothing out though, sales are getting closer to that annoying white block Nintendo calls a console.

What amazes me is that Sony are rumored to have terrible software development kits and this makes it harder for the 3rd party developers to make games for them. THQ recently announced that some games for the PlayStation 3 will have better graphics than the Xbox 360, this carries about as much weight as saying the Xbox is made by Microsoft. It's obvious and inevitable as 3rd parties continue to improve their knowledge of the super console. Games which will cause sales surges are coming out in the near future including MGS4, GT5, Little Big Planet, Home (despite not being a game) and GTA4 (although this is not exclusive). I am expecting some killer new games to be out to take the wind out of even the mighty Wii. So the square wheel is starting to smooth out, with the year of the PlayStation 3 upon us then we may be seeing a new king to the console war, knocking the Wii off its long held platform with its rather annoying exercise games.

Conclusion: This large, stylish powerhouse is gaining momentum, despite having square wheels. In theory this is going to be a big year for the PlayStation 3, a spokesperson has officially announced there will be no price cuts in the near future, more downloadable content and a rather bold content from Sony saying that the year 2008 is the "key year" for the PlayStation 3 and that in this year we will see "everything that we've got" looks like Sony has some big things planned. PlayStation Move Review

It feels like years since gamers first caught word of Sony's PlayStation Move. Slowly over the months more and more information has been released, and now the PlayStation Move is upon us. I decided not to pick up the Move on launch day as I wanted to wait and see if anyone reported major issues with the peripheral. I had planned to wait for a potential price drop, but after a few days my patience was exhausted. I ended up spending around $200 on the Move starter bundle, a second controller, and EyePet for my daughter.

The starter bundle includes one standard Move controller, a PlayStation Eye camera, and Sports Champions. The controller fits very snugly in the hand. and the attached lanyard is made of a nice thick fabric with an adjustable locking mechanism. This son of a bitch won't fall off your arm without some serious effort and I don't foresee the lanyard ever breaking. I was also surprised at the quality of the included camera. Sports Champions includes 6 different games, so gamers will get hours of gameplay out of the starter pack alone.

After setting everything up I began to play, I was in awe of the PlayStation Move's responsiveness. Everything runs at an amazing 1:1 ratio, so kudos to Sony for following through on their promises. All of the games on Sports Champions support up to four players, and I've had tons of fun with my friends and family with just this one game. Disk golf, which i had never even heard of before playing Sports Champions, was a blast and I would love to try it out sometime in real life. It's tons of fun and includes multiple holes with obstacles such as water hazards, and trees, so players have to think about both the power and angle of their throw. Disk golf is an amazing example of the precision the Move controller provides.

Some of the games in Sports Champions have the option of using two controllers. This is another mind blowing experience. Gladiator duel is the best game on the disk. This is a 3rd person over the shoulder fighting game that has players holding a shield in the left hand and a sword/axe/hammer/club in the right hand. With two move controllers synced up the right hand orb turns pink and the left hand orb turns blue. This is pretty cool looking when playing in a dark room. Hacking and slashing with your arms in the dark is definitely a blast when getting tipsy with friends.

Sony fully delivered on the PlayStation Move's responsiveness and so far everything has worked flawlessly for me. If you haven't picked up the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation Move yet you definitely should. Not only is the Move starter bundle available at $99, but a bundle including the PlayStation 3 console, and the Move starter bundle is available for $399..

I find the PlayStation Move to be a must have addition to the PlayStation 3 console. If you were on the fence about motion controls or turned off by the Wii, don't fret. XMB: This monster looks like Pamela Anderson wet with no clothes on. When turned on it looks as elegant, calm and collected as the Mafia brandishing machine guns. The background moves elegantly and is changeable and the icons move smoothly, these are also changeable. Everything inside the PlayStation 3's interface can pretty much be changed. The Infobar can be turned on and off, icons changed, background changed, fonts and other things can be customized till the cows come home. The Looks of the PlayStation 3 however do nothing to show the power within the machine.

Power: The power on this machine is just ferocious. Anything you can ask it to do it will with the lowest amount of fuss seen and not a noise can be heard unless your ears are as muscular as Arnold Schwarzenegger's arms. The specially developed Cell broadband engine can cope with absolutely anything a player can throw at it. That being said, the graphics card is made to match with its superb processing ability. The BD-ROM drive may only be a 2X speed drive but most of the games offer an install option so the games can load very quickly, eliminating many long load times. The hard-drive is a 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA notebook drive with the capacity depending on what you put in it or which SKU you purchase. The controller has enough power to last about 20 hours plus depending upon how many features are used and how aggressively it is used. It also links up to and idle PlayStation 3 in about 2-3 seconds wirelessly or instantly when charging via the cable. Graphics wise the PlayStation 3 is no slouch at all, HDMI up to 1080p NATIVELY, not up scaled. It also supports the same connection found on the PlayStation 2 although for whatever reason Sony limited this by default but an option in the settings quickly fixes that. There is also a program to emulate the PlayStation 1 built into every PlayStation 3 by standard. It is said that that a computer has to be 25 times more powerful than the system it wants to emulate and the PlayStation 3 is 35 times more powerful than Sony's own PlayStation 2. That's a small idea how powerful this console is. The processor packs 8 Synergy Processing Units, or SPU's, to process everything, 1 is reserved for the XMB OS, 6 are reserved for the games and the last one is reserved for a breakdown in one of the other chips.

Features: This has more features than a Swiss army knife, a fitted kitchen, 4 branches of Dixons and a wood burning stove. It is compatible with almost every video format used, probably every sound format, a lot of picture formats, DVD, Dual Layered DVD's, Flash cards, Memory Stick Pro Duo, MMC, Compact Flash cards, USB sticks, small planets we haven't heard of and technology made by men in white coats along with many other features such as the well known Linux compatibility, native 1080P output and motion control. As many features as this has, it does come at a bit of a price, £425 at release which by anybodies standards is pretty heft, a swift price cut sorted this out relatively quickly but for the amount of features you get built in, it's actually rather good value. With its built in Wi-Fi, DVD upscale, Blu-Ray drive, HDMI output, Gigabyte Ethernet port, wireless controller, frequent updates and unparalleled customer service the PlayStation 3 becomes relatively cheap.

Believe it or not, it was much cheaper than the Xbox 360 at the same time, The console cost £300, HD DVD drive was £90, wireless was £45, wireless controller came only with premium package, there was no built in HD DVD drive option available, it is as noisy as hell, breaks down more often than a nervous TV presenter, it's as subtle as a tank in a library and the backwards compatibility is about as useful as a cardboard cabbage. A big feature of the PlayStation 3 is the "Future proof" technology, being able to download the latest Blu-ray advancements, Operating system updates and other features means the PlayStation 3 could well be a wise investment even if games are not going to be played on it. Whilst not much of a feature, the almost silent fan will make mince meat of the conventional DVD player, Xbox 360, home theater system, built in DVD player, a child's chemistry set or even a vibrating chair.

Games: This is obviously a big part of a games console. A console without games is like swimming without water. Sadly the PlayStation 3 is on a bit of a square wheel at the moment. The games that come out are graphically parallel to the Xbox 360, despite being only first generation. However the games that are of any interest tend to be ports from the Xbox which is pretty bad. Things are slowly smoothing out though, sales are getting closer to that annoying white block Nintendo calls a console.

What amazes me is that Sony are rumored to have terrible software development kits and this makes it harder for the 3rd party developers to make games for them. THQ recently announced that some games for the PlayStation 3 will have better graphics than the Xbox 360, this carries about as much weight as saying the Xbox is made by Microsoft. It's obvious and inevitable as 3rd parties continue to improve their knowledge of the super console. Games which will cause sales surges are coming out in the near future including MGS4, GT5, Little Big Planet, Home (despite not being a game) and GTA4 (although this is not exclusive). I am expecting some killer new games to be out to take the wind out of even the mighty Wii. So the square wheel is starting to smooth out, with the year of the PlayStation 3 upon us then we may be seeing a new king to the console war, knocking the Wii off its long held platform with its rather annoying exercise games.

Conclusion: This large, stylish powerhouse is gaining momentum, despite having square wheels. In theory this is going to be a big year for the PlayStation 3, a spokesperson has officially announced there will be no price cuts in the near future, more downloadable content and a rather bold content from Sony saying that the year 2008 is the "key year" for the PlayStation 3 and that in this year we will see "everything that we've got" looks like Sony has some big things planned. With MGS4, GT5 making a possible appearance, Little Big Planet, Home and many other exciting exclusives the PlayStation 3 may just have one hell of a year and may have the legendary "Out of Stock" status which has been here with Sony's other two consoles [http://www.buy-your-consoles.com]

Profitable Review For Xbox 360 Vs PlayStation 3 Today

The PlayStation or the Xbox: which will win? It is one of the greatest rivalries of the gaming world, and the latest round - Playstation 3 vs. Xbox 360 - will soon be upon us.

The PlayStation 3 will start launching this November nationally at US territories and some other countries, some months after the Xbox. The advantage on that front goes to the Xbox.

But that is simply because they are the new kid on the block. In the longer term, expect sales of the two consoles to be fairly similar - and impressively high in both cases, perhaps between 20 million and 30 million each over the next few years. Playstation 3 Role Playing Games Review

I just want to open by saying that I have been sorely disappointed with the Playstation 3's selection of RPG games upon its release. It appears that their target audience prefers racing games and first person shooters, as those genres sum up the majority of the games that were available for the Playstation 3 at the time of this writing. I think that it is an understatement to say that Playstation 3 owners are thirsty for more high-definition RPG games. Give us more RPG for PS3!

That being said, I will be reviewing the two RPG games availible at Playstation 3 release for you in this edition:

Untold Legends : Dark Kingdom

This was my first dive into the world of Playstation 3. My naivety of HD cables led me to, originally, play the game in 480i. You can imagine that I was not very impressed with the graphics. Once I figured out that the Display Settings in the Playstation 3's Settings Menu had to be set, I finally played the game in all its 1080i glory. It was a truly beautiful experience.

My only complaint is:
Too many cave levels. The levels in the outside world are spectacular. Particularly stunning are the levels on the roof top of the tower, the mosaic tiles and the crystalline golem are worth spending ten hours of game play to see.

Tip: Level one specific special-power completely, and then move on to the next. At full power-up, the special-powers are devastating. The mage's telekinesis special-power is my personal favorite.

Rating: 8/10

Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Overall, the Playstation 3 version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance was an amazingly satisfying introduction to the power of the Playstation 3. It aslo spawns an excited anticipation for more of the eye-popping RPG's to come.

The only two complaints I have are:
Sometimes, the game lags due to the intense amount of high-definition graphics on the screen. As to why, I can only guess that either the programming doesn't take proper advantage of the hardware, or that the graphics are just too intense for the system. You will notice this if you play the Playstation 2 version, then switch to playing the Playstation 3 version as I did. Once you complete the game, you cannot restart the game with your powered up characters on a more difficult level, you have to start the character leveling with a set of fresh, un-leveled characters.

Tip: Stick to one outfit. You do not keep the powers of a previously leveled outfit when you switch to a different outfit. It costs a lot of money to upgrade the outfits.

These two complaints hardly outweigh the satisfaction of playing the game. It has a terrific storyline and amazing graphical quality.

As I stated earlier, the Playstation 3 could certainly improve on their selection of RPG games. I also have to say that these two games introduce the thirsty RPG fan to the beauty and high-definition promise of some amazing things to come. These two titles will certainly quench their thirst for the time being.

PlayStation Move Review

It feels like years since gamers first caught word of Sony's PlayStation Move. Slowly over the months more and more information has been released, and now the PlayStation Move is upon us. I decided not to pick up the Move on launch day as I wanted to wait and see if anyone reported major issues with the peripheral. I had planned to wait for a potential price drop, but after a few days my patience was exhausted. I ended up spending around $200 on the Move starter bundle, a second controller, and EyePet for my daughter.

The starter bundle includes one standard Move controller, a PlayStation Eye camera, and Sports Champions. The controller fits very snugly in the hand. and the attached lanyard is made of a nice thick fabric with an adjustable locking mechanism. This son of a bitch won't fall off your arm without some serious effort and I don't foresee the lanyard ever breaking. I was also surprised at the quality of the included camera. Sports Champions includes 6 different games, so gamers will get hours of gameplay out of the starter pack alone.

After setting everything up I began to play, I was in awe of the PlayStation Move's responsiveness. Everything runs at an amazing 1:1 ratio, so kudos to Sony for following through on their promises. All of the games on Sports Champions support up to four players, and I've had tons of fun with my friends and family with just this one game. Disk golf, which i had never even heard of before playing Sports Champions, was a blast and I would love to try it out sometime in real life. It's tons of fun and includes multiple holes with obstacles such as water hazards, and trees, so players have to think about both the power and angle of their throw. Disk golf is an amazing example of the precision the Move controller provides.

Some of the games in Sports Champions have the option of using two controllers. This is another mind blowing experience. Gladiator duel is the best game on the disk. This is a 3rd person over the shoulder fighting game that has players holding a shield in the left hand and a sword/axe/hammer/club in the right hand. With two move controllers synced up the right hand orb turns pink and the left hand orb turns blue. This is pretty cool looking when playing in a dark room. Hacking and slashing with your arms in the dark is definitely a blast when getting tipsy with friends.

Sony fully delivered on the PlayStation Move's responsiveness and so far everything has worked flawlessly for me. If you haven't picked up the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation Move yet you definitely should. Not only is the Move starter bundle available at $99, but a bundle including the PlayStation 3 console, and the Move starter bundle is available for $399..

I find the PlayStation Move to be a must have addition to the PlayStation 3 console. If you were on the fence about motion controls or turned off by the Wii, don't fret. The Wii has been out for quite a few years now and Sony has kept a close eye on what works and what doesn't in motion controls. The Move is spot on, and along with some great titles for kids, Killzone 3, Little Big Planet 2, SOCOM 4, and support for previously released titles like Resident Evil 5 should have core gamers getting in on the PlayStation Move-ment.
